I am back for the last time this month and part of January. I'm doing a Christmas podcast again to get you all in the mood for gift giving and being happy that you're around the people that you love. I get to go home and be with all of my friends and family, and then I get to go and be with my lovely boyfriend. So this is a season for joy for me. Exams will be over, classes and worries will be dismissed for an entire month, and happiness will prevail over all!!!!

So listen to this, and maybe if your day sucks it will brighten it. And if not, it can only make it a little brighter, right? I'm here to give you this week's lineup of music. It's all Christmas themed stuff. Things having to do with the season. The songs are good, and they're by awesome artists, and so I want you all to check this one out and don't skip it because of something like "I don't like Christmas" or "I'm not Christian." or whatever your lame excuse is. Because I'm not christian either, so suck it up and check this jive out. Next week is another Christmas lineup, but it will be songs that you know done by people you love, and that does not mean Burl Ives. So enjoy, and see you back next weekend!

00:00 - 00:47 Me babbling. It's a beautiful thing, going home for the holidays. In this case it's "Turkey Day," as some now like to call it. I would talk in these podcasts but my roommate is never out of the room...ever. Thus, you're left without my little stories about songs and laughs. Sorry, folks. Anyway, after this podcast I'll be absent for a week, and then I'll return again to do more podcasts. Of course, I'll be thinking of all the things to put on the next podcasts. I know you'll all love them; I already have part of them planned out haha. Sad, I guess.

Anyway. So this is just a collection of songs that I love to listen to while I drive. Some of them are about driving, some of them aren't. It starts out fast and tones down, because when I'm leaving the city I want my music loud, but when I'm on the open or winding roads, I want it mellow and relaxed. So I'm really satisfied with this, and I hope you will be too. Everyone who's driving somewhere for the holidays, safe driving, and take this little diddy with you.

Download the MP3: Wide Asleep and I'm Cruising

00:00 - 02:46 Modest Mouse - Black Cadillacs
02:47 - 06:02 Alien Ant Farm - Glow
06:03 - 09:23 Butterfly Boucher - Another White Dash
09:24 - 12:43 Eve 6 - Open Road Song
12:44 - 16:43 Cory Branan - Miss Ferguson
16:44 - 20:21 OKgo - 1000 Miles Per Hour
20:22 - 25:19 Bird York - Open Wider
25:20 - 29:10 The Lemonheads - Ride With Me
29:11 - 33:49 Radiohead - Be Quiet and Drive (Deftones Cover)

Wide Asleep and I'm Lazy

Yeah yeah yeah. So I haven't updated in 2 weeks. Get over it. Haha. Actually last weekend I just forgot, and was overly stressed without time to do it anyway. So I don't blame myself, and neither should you har har. This week's was hard to do. I just couldn't get the feel for it, so if it's not as good as some of the previous ones I'm sorry. However, I do hope you enjoy it. There will be one next week before my Thanksgiving break that will be a mix of car-tunes. Good driving songs. Look forward to it. Listen to it on your drive back. Or around, if you're not driving back to anywhere.

So this week's lineup is as follows:

00:00 - 06:32 Delerium - Fallen Icons
06:33 - 09:25 Erin McKeown - Slung Low
09:26 - 13:00 Fiona Apple - Red Red Red
13:01 - 15:57 Ryan Adams & The Cardinals - Rosebud
15:58 - 21:49 Clap Your Hands and Say Yeah! - The Skin of My Yellow Country Teeth
21:49 - 25:46 Stellastarr - Homeland

Sorry it's out on Sunday instead of Sat. Didja miss me? Haha, well if you did, I'm back in half-bloom. This podcast isn't as long as some of my past ones, but I think 7 songs is a good amount, and I guess I've found that the shorter they are, the easier they are to find time to listen to. That's not to say that they'll get shorter than this, or even that they won't be really long again. It's just something I discovered in my podcast-capades.

Recently I've missed Post-Radio Podstop, since he hasn't had a podcast since mid-September. Check it out though, it's always a chillin' blend of music. :)

So all that being said, here's my line-up for the week:

00:00 - 04:02 Franz Ferdinand - Dark of the Matinee
04:03 - 07:39 Jamie Cullum and Katie Melua - Love Cats (Cure cover)
07:40 - 10:25 The Weakerthans - Reconstruction Site
10:26 - 14:47 Jazon Mraz - Clockwatching
14:48 - 17:45 Bandi Carlile - Closer to You
17:46 - 21:17 Rhett Miller - Our Love
21:18 - 24:58 Asian Kung-Fu Generation - Jihei Tansaku

I would worry about getting in trouble for this podcast because of all of the more mainstream music, but not enough people listen to it for anything to matter. Thus, I am just not going to worry.

Hope you enjoyed! :)

Download the Mp3: Wide Asleep and I'm Groovin'

Wide Asleep and It's Fall

This podcast starts upbeat and goes down into some mellow jive. It's sortof an assortment of songs I've listened to this week and just gone "damn that was good, I'll put it on my podcast." Isn't that how it mostly goes anyway? haha. So this is it for this week, a bit shorter than the others, but they're getting perhaps a little TOO long? I think this is a good length. Otherwise you have to have a long long stretch of time to listen. Once again, no talking since I didn't have time. Ah well, enjoy!

Wide Asleep and It's Fall

00:00 - 02:29 The Futureheads - Decent Days & Nights
02:30 - 06:19 Leo Kottke & Mike Gordon - Clone
07:20 - 11:40 Ray LaMontagne - Jolene
11:41 - 14:13 Pedro the Lion - Big Trucks
14:14 - 18:00 K.D. Not sure if there will be one for next weekend, though I doubt it. My boyfriend is coming to visit me and I'm sure we'll be "oot and aboot" and not sitting around in front of the computer. It's some really great stuff, a little bit of jazz, a little bit of electronica, a little bit of rock, some other stuff. You don't have to know a language to love it's music, and this is definitely one of those cases. I don't talk in this one, mostly because I didn't have time this week. Upon retrospect though, I should have done an intro in Japanese. I can't go back and re-do it now though. Maybe another time. Instead, you can have this:

Ninhongo no ongaku ga suki desu yo! Ii kikimasu. Arigatou gozaimasu.

MP3:Wide Asleep and I'm Dreaming in Japanese

00:00 - 04:58 Minmi - Shiki no Uta (Song of Seasons)
04:59 - 10:51 Chihiro Onitsuka - Borderline
10:52 - 15:54 Crystal Kay - Rettsu Suikadorobou (?)
10:55 - 20:30 Hitomi - Japanese Girl
20:31 - 24:15 Asian Kung-Fu Generation - Kimi no Machi Made (To Your Town)
24:16 - 29:17 Mr. Children - Nishi e Higashi e (West or East)
29:18 - 35:36 The Seatbelts - The Real Folk Blues
35:37 - 44:07 Supercar - Siren
44:08 - 48:19 Mina Kubota - Distant Mountain
48:20 - 54:36 Maaya Sakamoto - T Shaatsu
54:37 - 56:30 Hysteric Blue - Aoi Sora (Blue Sky)

I did my best to translate these titles for you. It's mostly composed of a mix of new and old music (not in the sense that it's old by date, but in the sense that I've listened to it for a long time). I'm loving the comments that everyone is leaving me - whether by e-mail or on this site. It's helping me out and I'm glad to know that people are really listening. So let's get started!

Download the MP3: Wide Asleep and I'm Purple

00:00 - 02:33 Orenda Fink - Bloodline
03:34 - 06:26 Imogen Heap - Whatever
06:27 - 07:47 Me babbling.
07:48 - 13:13 Sufjan Stevens - Jacksonville
13:14 - 16:50 Sarah Blasko - Perfect Now
16:51 - 18:40 Me talking more (I lie here and say you just heard Aqualung, sorry)
18:41 - 22:40 Aqualung - Falling Out of Love
22:41 - 27:03 Joe Hisaishi - Kikujiro no Natsu
27:04 - 29:51 Wilco - Forget the Flowers
29:52 - 33:19 Aloha - Protest Song
33:20 - 36:11 The New Pornographers - Bones of an Idol
36:12 - 37:01 Me one last time.
37:02 - 41:28 Augustana - Stars and Boulevards
41:29 - 44:41 Rufus Wainwright - Complaint de la Butte
44:42 - 48:42 Cardigans - War

This podcast isn't put together as well as the last one. Forgive me. Last week I worked on it all week, and this week I only had friday and today. Forgive the little parts where the endings cut off, and my slip up with placing my second commentary in the wrong spot. I swear I thought I fixed that. Oh well. I hope you like this for the music. Please leave comments. Try a little harder. Local music! Yay! Here's my chance to promo the little guys! Now when I say local, I am considering two places: Memphis, Tennessee (my home town) and Springfield, Missouri (My college town). Obviously there is a music scene in both places, and I just wouldn't be content if I didn't cover both of them.

Download the mp3: Wide Asleep and I'm Stationary

So with that having been said, here is the breakdown, with links to band webpages if they have them.

0:00 - 3:26 The Professional Americans - Guitars and Gasoline (Springfield, MO)
3:27 - 4:14 Me Babbling
4:15 - 7:49 Saint Priscilla - The West Coast(Springfield, MO)
7:50 - 11:21 Lyal Strickland - Ten (Springfield, MO)
11:22 - 12:16 Aj - Meiosis (Wilton, NH)
12:17 - 13:21 Me Babbling more
13:22 - 17:09 Cory Branan - Jolene (Memphis, TN)
17:10 - 21:20 Lucero - Tears Don't Matter Much (Memphis, TN)
21:21 - 24:53 The Glass - Smog Vs. Stars(Memphis, TN)
24:54 - 26:24 Me Babbling Even More
26:25 - 30:17 This Is Goodbye - The Cliche Life (Memphis, TN)
30:18 - 30:49 Aj - Mini the Walk (Wilton, NH)
30:50 - 33:47 Scandaliz Vandalistz - Yr 2 Kool (Memphis, TN)
33:48 - 36:26 Becca Bobango - Hair (Memphis, TN)
36:27 - 37:50 Me babbling one last time.
37:51 - 42:57 The Beautiful Losers - Gravity (Springfield, MO)
42:57 - 46:06 Bella Sun - Rise and Fall (Memphis, TN)

The first clip of me is a little quiet, but the rest of them are OK.

And there are so many bands I haven't even touched on. These are the ones I've heard the most, and are my favorites out of the ones I've found. Sadly, I'm not doing justice to the garage bands, but I hope everyone enjoys the podcast for what I was able to include. I hope that maybe this makes you go to a couple of shows, or buy a cd. Just enjoy.

PS: Cory Branan's got an evil streak, and a way with words that will bring you to your knees.

Wide Asleep and I'm Humming

This is a mellow podcast of arists who need to be appreciated for their beautiful voices and lilting melodies.

You can download the mp3 here: step on up and click, folks.
OR you can do what I'd LIKE you to do and subscribe by following these easy steps.
In your Itunes, go to Advanced and click "subscribe to podcast" In the large box there, enter this text "http://dreamomens.com/podcast/rss.xml" minus the quotation marks of course.
